SNOOK, Texas — The Snook Independent School District Board of Trustees is proud to announce the appointment of Mrs. Kimberly Giesenschlag as the new Superintendent of Schools. The Board unanimously voted 7–0 during its meeting on Monday night to name Mrs. Giesenschlag to the district’s top leadership position.
A proud 2005 graduate of Snook High School, Mrs. Giesenschlag brings a deep connection to the community she now returns to serve. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M University and a Master of Education from Texas State University. With 16 years of experience in public education, including 12 years in school administration, she brings extensive leadership experience, educational expertise, and a strong commitment to student success.
Mrs. Giesenschlag began her teaching career in the state of Washington, teaching 7th–9th grade math for one year. After returning to Texas in 2010, she joined San Marcos CISD, where she taught 7th grade math at Goodnight Middle School for three years. In 2013, she began her administrative career as an assistant principal at Goodnight Middle School, later serving as an associate principal at Miller Middle School.
In 2016, Mrs. Giesenschlag and her family moved back to Snook, where she served as an assistant principal at the Star Academy in Bryan ISD. She later became the associate principal at Rudder High School, where she was honored as Administrator of the Year for two consecutive years. In 2020, she was named principal of Stephen F. Austin Middle School in Bryan ISD. Her leadership was recognized statewide in October 2024, when she was named the Secondary Principal of the Year by the Texas Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (TASCD). Most recently, she has served as Snook ISD's Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Federal Programs.
Mrs. Giesenschlag is married to her high school sweetheart, Robert “RJ” Giesenschlag, and together they have three sons. Their three children, Grayson (5th grade), Zachary (4th grade), and Matthew (Kindergarten) attend Snook Elementary.
Returning home to lead Snook ISD is a full-circle moment for Mrs. Giesenschlag. She expressed her enthusiasm for the opportunity to give back to her alma mater and the community that shaped her educational foundation.
“It’s an incredible honor to serve the district that gave me my start,” said Mrs. Giesenschlag. “Snook has always been home, and I look forward to working alongside our dedicated staff, students, and families to continue building a supportive, inclusive, and high-achieving school community.”
